Not our idea! It’s a model that’s worked really well in a bunch of places including by our neighbors in Carlisle, Lebanon, West Philly, and North Baltimore.  

Over the past decade, several people have tried to start one in Harrisburg. Our current team just happened to have the right conditions to make it happen. 

Not quite! We are renovating the space and plan on opening full-time in December 2025.

Ahead of that, we’ll be open on 3rd in the Burg for tool donations and hanging out! We want to create a space that works for you so tell us what you need and want! 

TBD but will be something like an evening time-slot and a weekend daytime slot. 

Ahead of opening, we are offering lifetime memberships at $250 a household. These will go away once we are formally opened. If you believe in this project, these memberships are the way to help us get to sustainability. 

Annual memberships are forthcoming. They are sliding scale starting at $0. No need to prove how “poor” you are; just say what you can pay and that’s good enough for us. 

Starting October 17 at our House Warming Party, you can drop off tools. You’ll receive a receipt for your donation just like when you drop stuff at Goodwill. 

A fair question! In practice, tool libraries rarely have issues with theft. Our members take pride in caring for shared tools, and we keep track of what’s checked out just in case.
